Magufuli mourns for the fallen soldiers


The Commander in-Chief of the armed forces President Dr. John Magufuli has sent a message of condolences to the Chief of the Defense Forces (CDF) General Vennance Mabeyo and the head of the National Service Unit Major General Martin Busungu following the untimely deaths of 13 people including one soldier and national service trainee soldiers which occurred on Thursday in Mbeya city. The President has also sent a message of condolences to the family members of the fallen heroes whom he described have died while serving for the nation. The president also noted that, he received with great shock news about their deaths.  In his messages conveyed in a statement issued yesterday in Dar es Salaam by the Directorate of the Presidential Communication, the president said that, he is deeply consoled by the untimely deaths of the soldiers and that should the lord God rest their souls in internal peace.

Soldiers in hectic move at the scene of accident trying to save survivors

The soldiers perished in a grisly car accident that involved a passenger bus on which they were travelling which belongs to Igunga Trans Company christened ‘Igunga Express’ with the reg. No: T 755 BAB that occurred on sloppy areas of Igodima on the outskirts of Mbeya city. The soldier and other trainees were being transferred from Igunga National Service training camp in Tabora to Itende camp which is located on the outskirts of Mbeya city for military practical training skills. The President has also expressed sorrow on receiving the news which also had indicated that other 25 people were seriously injured and have been rushed to Mbeya referral hospital for treatment. In his message sent, the President has also prayed for their quick recovery and continues with their daily activities. The lord God has issued and taken away and let his name be glorified fir ever, Amen. The preliminary investigations from the scene of accident said that, the driver was over speeding and had failed to apply its brakes on reaching at a sloppy area an aspect that he lost control and veered off the road and consequently overturned.
