Govt to give priority to regional trunk roads


The government has said that, in championing the construction of trunk roads in the country, it will continue giving priority of construction roads which connects regional towns, the deputy minister for Works, Transport and Communication Eng Atashasta Justus Nditiye said in the Parliament. He said that, the second priority will be to construct roads which will connect districts in the country at the tarmac level. The Minister further noted that, the work will take more time to be completed, and in view of this, the minister has asked legislators to wait until the government collects enough money to accomplish other projects. The deputy minister was responding a question earlier raised by Special Seat Zainabu Zulu (CCM) who wanted to know plans laid down by the government to accomplish the construction of roads in Dar es Salaam region and its environs in order to champion the industrialization drive for middle income economy. The minister noted that, the government would be constructing roads which are economically viable in most productive areas in the country.
