Government to build a referral hospital in Katavi region

The government has revealed its plans of constructing a regional hospital in Mpanda municipal town which is in a newly established region of Katavi during 2018/19 financial year, the deputy minister for Health and Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Dr Faustine Ndugulille has said today. Dr. Ngugulile who professionally is a doctor of medicine clarified that, this will be among the referral hospitals in the country whereby medical and health trainees will be undergoing internship programs for the courses they take from the nearby  Mpanda medical training centre and other health institutes. The minister was responding to the question earlier raised by Mpanda urban legislator on CCM ticket Hon. Sebastian Kakufi  who wanted to know when the region will be given a referral hospital and finding out reasons for the government to suspend hands on skills trainings for trainers of a nearby health institute.  A supplementary question was raised by Mpwapwa legislator Malima Lubeleje (CCM) who wanted to know why there are a number of health institutes which have been suspended and are not operating. In responding to these questions, the deputy minister said that, as most of these health colleges were extremely in bad state, then the government suspended admission for a while and cited undergoing intensive renovations in line with some development folk colleges during 2018/19 financial year.
