A student commits suicide in Mbeya after Liverpool team failed

A second year student of the Saint Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT) Mbeya campus, Moses Mashaka (24) has hanged himself to death allegedly after the UK based football team of a Liverpool to which he is supporting as a staunch soccer fan was kicked off in a tournament.
The team had failed to score the European Club Championship after it was beaten by the powerful Real Madrid soccer team of Spain in a final match held last week.

The Mbeya city Police Commander ACP Musa Taib said that the late Moses hanged himself after he had miraculously entered in betting with hopes that his team would win the game, but was angered when he learned that his team had failed to become champion. “A second year student of SAUT in Mbeya campus who was taking Bachelor of Arts in Education has died after he had entered in betting and had deposited unspecified sum of money and later on when he had realized his team had failed, he took the decision of taking out his life”, said commander Taibu. Either Commander Taibu has appealed to students to refrain from such an extravagant expenditure of their pocket money given to them by their parents, and venture into an illegal betting game which is not directly associated with their education matters and a result of which ends up in great loss.
