The government is set to give priority
of development of infrastructural upgrades and other facilities to the newly
proclaimed Dodoma municipal town which now has become the official capital
city. In addition to the ongoing developments activities, the government will
bring a bill to parliament to be discussed by Members of Parliament that will
officially recognize Dodoma as the country’s capital city. Prime Minister
Kassim Majaliwa said on Thursday in Parliament that, following the announcement
of the Dodoma to become a city by the President John Magufuli a week ago, the
government is set to make it have a high status like other capital cities in
the world. The PM narrated that the citry has efficient water sources, modern
hospitals like Benjamin Mkapa hospital, and currently the government is
planning to construct a ring road and many others. Other development
initiatives he noted are the presence of the modern parliament building, five
higher learning institutions including the University of Dodoma (UDOM). The PM
was responding a question directed to him by special seat Felister Bura (CCM)
who wanted to know plans by the government of reinvesting the newly announced
capital city of Dodoma so as to have the international status just like others
in the world.
