Issue of union to be included in national education curriculum
The government has seen the need to include the
issue of union in national educational curriculum so as to enable students in
the republic to know the historical background of how the union between
Tanganyika and Zanzibar and then various challenges and problems facing the
union and steps being undertaken to overcome them. The Minister of State in
Vice-President Office responsible for union matters January Makamba said in
parliament last week when he was contributing to a debate during question and
answer session and to his views he noted that, it was better to let the
incoming generation know in details the essence of the union. He said that by
doing so, people will be in a position to learn in depth various challenges and
problems facing the union and take the necessary steps to overcome them for the
benefits of the people in the country. He said there are various challenges and
problems facing the union and which need to be known by citizens of both
countries for their well being in future.
