Efforts shown in water irrigation programs to be strengthened
The government has assured the parliament that it intends
to direct its efforts in constructing water dams in a bid to facilitate
agriculture by irrigation methods in most targeted areas where such various projects
are going on in the country. The deputy minister for water and irrigation Jumaa
Aweso said last week in parliament during question and answer session that, the
move is to keep abreast with the industrialization agenda which the fifth phase
government has adopted. He told legislators that, although there are so many
water dam projects which are not yet completed in most parts in the country,
the government is currently looking for the money in order to have all these
are complete within the set timeframe. The deputy minister was responding to a
question earlier raised by Mbarali legislator Haroon Mula (CCM) who wanted to
know when the government will finish construction of water dams so as to pave
the way for farmers to practice agriculture for irrigation.
