Disaster committee coordinates loses caused by rains in the country
The national disaster committee in the office of the
Prime Minister is currently coordinating with regional and district authorities
through their disaster committees to establish the extent of loses caused by
the long rains which are going on in various places in the country. Prime
Minister Kassim Majaliwa has assured Members of Parliament when he was
responding an impromptu question directed to him and his office in general in a
special session last week. Earlier the Ukonga legislator Mwita Waitara (Chadema)
wanted to know from the Prime Minister how his office has prepared to repair
the infrastructures such as roads which to a certain extent have been damaged
by rains in various places in the country, targeting specifically the infrastructures
at his constituency in Ilala district, Dar es Salaam region. In response, the
Prime Minister has noted that since evaluation exercise to ascertain the loses
incurred is currently going on in various regions, he has asked the MPs to draw
the patience and once this is finished, his office will sit down to make
repairs. However, he also noted in addition that, the government will set aside money to make
repairs of any damaged infrastructures once the exercise is completer most
important areas will be given priories in accordance with the availability of
fund that will determine the magnitude of the problem.
