IGP reshuffles top most police officers in Zanzibar


The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Simon Sirro has appointed former head of the criminal prevention division at police headquarter the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Maulid Makabila to be the deputy director of the Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Zanzibar and made changes of some Regional Police Commanders (RPC). A statement issued recently and signed by the police spokesperson Barnabas Mwakalukwa says that in the changes made, the former DCI in Zanzibar Ramadhan Nga’zi has been appointed the new Arusha Regional Police Commander and has taken the position left vacant by Charles Mkumbo who has been transferred to the investigation department at the police headquarter.

Former Regional Police Commander (RPC) of the Mjini Magharibi Hassan Nassir Ali has been transferred to Kaskazini Pemba and his position has been overtaken by the ACP Thobias Sedoveka who formerly was at the department of the investigations at the headquarter office in Dar es Salaam. The RPC for Unguja South Makarani Khamisi has been transferred to the investigations division at the headquarter in Zanzibar and his vacant position has been overtaken by ACP Sulleiman Hassan  who formerly headed the investigation unit at Unguja South, said Mwakalukwa in his statement. Former RPC fir Unguja South Hassan Ramadhani Taufiq has become chief officer at the Zanzibar police headquarter and his position is overtaken by the Assistant Commissioner Haji Abdallah Haji who was formerly the chief officer at Mjini Magharibi. The statement is quoted as saying that, these are normal changes which are aimed at increasing work efficiency for their work performances.
