Govt to give priority to regional trunk roads
The government has said that, in championing the construction of trunk roads
in the country, it will continue giving priority of construction roads which connects
regional towns, the deputy minister for Works, Transport and Communication Eng
Atashasta Justus Nditiye said in the Parliament. He said that, the second
priority will be to construct roads which will connect districts in the country
at the tarmac level. The Minister further noted that, the work will take more
time to be completed, and in view of this, the minister has asked legislators
to wait until the government collects enough money to accomplish other
projects. The deputy minister was responding a question earlier raised by
Special Seat Zainabu Zulu (CCM) who wanted to know plans laid down by the
government to accomplish the construction of roads in Dar es Salaam region and
its environs in order to champion the industrialization drive for middle income
economy. The minister noted that, the government would be constructing roads
which are economically viable in most productive areas in the country.
