It was not a surprising thing when the ministry’s pavilion was announced to be the overall winner in the 33rd DITF trade fair, they really deserved it. According to some people who visited the fair, domestic tourism is lagging behind in Tanzania and in East Africa as whole, thus the need for its aggressive promotion and increase the number of local tourists is highly needed. It is not wonderful to say that, many Tanzanians do not know the tourist destinations in Tanzania and even in their own regions and districts, as many citizens assume that tourism is an expensive venture something that officials say it is not necessarily so. The ministry has announced plans to come up with a strategy that will encourage Tanzanians from all walks of life visit historic sites, national parks and other game sanctuaries. According to an expert from the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) Tanzania boasts of having numerous tourist attractions including Mount Kilimanjaro the highest mountains in Africa, Serengeti National park which is pone of the wonders of the world and the Ngorongoro crater a wonderful game sanctuary.
