Miss Universe Tanzania to be known today

Kagasheki is expected to be the guest of honor in Miss Universe final beauty
contest to be held today in Dar es Salaam. Director of the organizing company, Compass
Communications Ltd , Mariam Sarungi said yesterday in Dar es Salaam that, the
event to be held at night will take place at National Museum Hall in the city. She
said, there are 15 semi-finalist contestants selected from 8 regions in the
country who have been in the camp at Urban Rose Hotel in the city for two weeks
training in preparation for today’s final stage. However, she said that, the winner
to be crowned as Miss Universe Tanzania will represent the country at the
annual Miss Universe pageant beauty contest which will be held in Moscow,
Russia later in November this year. Besides
an overall winner, she continued and noted that the second winner will be
crowned as Miss Earth while the third winner will be
given the title of Miss Tourism beautiful respectively. Going on its 7th year since its inception in 2007, Winfrida Dominic, Miss Universe Tanzania 2012 will hand over the crown to this year’s winner. She won the title in a competition among 16 beautiful girls. Miss Universe Tanzania is an annual beauty pageant which has been organized by Compass Communications Ltd. This year’s event is being sponsored by five companies among them Tanzania National Park (TANAPA) which takes the stage for the first time. Others are Airtel, Coca-Cola, Mohammed Enterprises Ltd, Fast Jet. In the series of winners since 2007, Flaviana Matata won the first edition of the Miss Universe Tanzania pageant in 2007 and made history by becoming the first contestant from Tanzania to compete at Miss Universe pageants. Othetrs who followed later with their respective winning years in brackets are Amanda Ole Sulue (2008), Illuminata James (2009), Hellen Dausen (2010), Nelly Alexandra Kamwelu (2011), and the incumbent Wilfrida Dominica (2012). Miss Universe is an annual international beauty contest run by the Miss Universe Organization. Along with its rival contests -- Miss World and Miss Earth -- this pageant is one of the most publicized beauty contests in the world. The contest was founded in 1952 by California clothing company Pacific Mills. The pageant became part of Kayser-Roth and then Gulf and Western Industries, before being acquired by Donald Trump in 1996. In 1998, Miss Universe changed its name from Miss Universe, Inc. to Miss Universe Organization and the headquarters was moved from Long Beach, Los Angeles to New York City.
